Our Director

Mr. Jarrett Hansen comes to Port Angeles High School after 4 years teaching high school band at San Leandro High School in the Bay Area. An Olympic Peninsula native, Jarrett grew up in Chimacum and graduated from Chimacum High School. Mr. Hansen attended Central Washington University, where he studied music education with a broad area specialization, graduating in 2016 magna cum laude. At Central, Jarrett performed in the Wind Ensemble, Symphonic Winds, Symphonic Band, Marching Band, Jazz Band 2, Jazz Band 3, Jazz Band 4, Vocal Jazz 3, Jazz combos, and Horn ensemble. His primary instrument is french horn, studying with Dr. Jeffrey Snedeker. Other notable teachers include: Mark Lane, Larry Gookin, Nikolas Caoile, Lewis Norfleet, and Eric Hammer. Mr. Hansen’s secondary instruments include piano and guitar.

Mr. Hansen enjoys the outdoors, basketball, and is a huge Seahawks fan. Most of all, he enjoys time with his incredibly supportive wife LeAnn and their beautiful, strong willed daughter Hindley Jaye. Mr. Hansen is excited to return to the Olympic Peninsula and continue the success of the Port Angeles High School band program. Go Roughriders!
